Synthesis and Characterization of Cyclodextrin-Based Scaffold Incorporating Ciprofloxacin Antibacterial Agent for Skin Infection Prevention

The treatment of skin infections is one the most challenging conditions in these days. Clinically health professionals recommend antibiotics; however, their efficiency questionable due to side effects, as well drug delivery capabilities. This work focuses on noninvasive application Ciprofloxacin HCL (CFx)-loaded β-Cyclodextrin composite suppress antibacterial infections. Silk fibroins are used enhance mechanical properties, sodium alginate for dressing while citric acid has been a linking agent. Combination forms green composite, which biocompatible and demonstrates better controlled drug-releasing properties. Four composites made with different ratios biocomponents. characterized by characterization methods including Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electron-dispersive X-ray (EDX) observe surface chemical properties scaffold. effect scaffold was observed through agar diffusion test method. results demonstrated that higher ratio β-Cyclodextrin, larger will be inhibition zone other materials have limited no zone. tests show successful bonding loading CFx composite. Therefore, β-Cyclodextrin-based scaffolds could promising candidate wound applications low effects.
